Around 50 automobiles have been smeared with what seems to be human blood in the Germany's municipality of Hanau near Frankfurt, as reported by law enforcement.
Vehicles, exterior walls and postal boxes were defaced, sometimes with Nazi symbols, they stated in a statement.
Law enforcement report they were alerted late on Wednesday evening, when a man observed that a vehicle in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been covered with a red-colored fluid.
The fluid had been placed in the pattern of a Nazi symbol, they reported.
Police then discovered numerous other marked cars and building exteriors in the nearby vicinity.
These symbols are banned in Germany under regulations prohibiting the public display of Nazi-era symbols.
Police state early analysis suggest the fluid was probably blood from a person.
"At present there remains no clue as to where it came from; investigators are presently not informed of any harm in relation with the event," they stated.
Municipal representatives said they were attempting "to resolve the case" and have requested to the residents for details.
A senior political figure said the vandalism made him speechless and had to be resolved quickly.
"This event affects the very heart of Hanau and reopens the wounds of the far-right violent incident five years ago," he stated on social media, recalling the killing of nine people by a assailant targeting residents of migrant background in February 2020.
